Dr. Hameed has her PhD in biochemistry and her research focuses on neuritin offered neuroprotection in glaucoma using an ex-vivo model system. Her long-term goal is to be an independent researcher in the field of retinal neurodegenerative diseases.

Nicole is a graduate student in the Indiana BioMedical Gateways program at Indiana University School of Medicine under Dr. Sharma. She is excited to contribute to the space flight research done in the Sharma lab!

Dr. Mongan completed his undergraduate education in Physiology at the University of Colorado at Boulder, earned a master's in Medical Physiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and received his MD from Northeast Ohio Medical University. He is passionate about ophthalmology research and clinical care. Specifically, he is interested in investigating signaling pathways and mitochondrial dysfunction to advance understanding of neuroprotection in glaucoma. Outside of research and medicine, his hobbies include reading comic books, visiting museums, going to the gym, and most of all, spending time with his golden doodle!
